Wisconsin Watch employs paid student interns from the University of Wisconsin School of Journalism and Mass Communication throughout the year.
Some are hired as investigative reporters or photographers, while others work on our business team.
Generally, two to three interns work for Wisconsin Watch during the academic year. Each works about 20 hours a week.
In the summer, Wisconsin Watch generally employs three interns. They work 40 hours a week.
Interns are paid $13 an hour.
To be eligible for internships, applicants must be enrolled at the time of application as UW-Madison School of Journalism & Mass Communication undergraduate or graduate students.
Announcements about internships are posted on the jobs section of our website, our Facebook and Twitter accounts, and on the UW journalism school’s listservs and social media accounts.
Interns receive intensive training and experience in interviewing, researching and writing and multimedia skills. Some travel around Wisconsin may be required.
Interns are provided office space in Vilas Communication Hall.
